I love the feel of a paint brush on fine papers, the explosion of color it creates as it connects to the paper, and the joy I feel as my subject comes to life. I mostly paint representations of living things and express them through my interest of repetitive pattern, developed during my years as a graphic designer. My patterns range from painting a hundred individual butterflies in a series down to a tiny complex pattern on the wings of a single dragonfly. I leave a white background on many of my paintings to allow it to speak without interruption and when alongside others in the series, it becomes one voice in the arrangement. This also allows me to digitally use them in marketable designs for commercial licensing. When I do paint a background, I unite the subject to its environment spontaneously through patterns of color, texture, and shape.
My paintings have appeared in multiple Better Homes & Gardens publications, and originally designed for my own use, my free art calendars have been downloaded over 400,000 times worldwide. My art is available for licensing.
